At the same time, China Mobile also announced that the first commercial 5G network was launched in China.

How does 5G network help the customers?
5G offers a significant improvement in the speed of data transfers. It increases the number of devices that can connect to the Internet and the overall quality of the connection. These features are essential to the Internet of Things, which will increasingly use smart technologies and require a much greater capacity to exchange data with one another. For now, it is the network infrastructure that holds back the potential of IoT. “The 5G network will play an important role in providing broadband connectivity to users in the rural areas”. Also, there is going to be improvement in data speeds in 5G networks. A large percentage of smartphones are going to lose their access to 4G network when the 5G network is switched on. The reason behind the same is the lack of compatible devices. It is said that majority of the phones sold in 2019 will be using 4G network. With the introduction of the 5G network in 2020, the number of compatible devices are expected to decrease rapidly. A study conducted by IDC suggests that over 50% of all smartphones and mobile devices could be connected to a 5G network by 2022.
